Our Story

The Department of Mass Communication (DMC) at ISU was established in August, 2000.

The DMC is the first bachelor's degree program in mass communication in southern Taiwan. We believe more programs in communication should be established in southern Taiwan to strike a balance between communication programs established in northern and southern Taiwan.

Staff

Department faculty are from the renowned universities, in addition to the requirement with rich professional experience, every teacher has to have a high degree of enthusiasm for teaching and perseverance in the spirit of the study.

The Department currently has 10 full-time teachers, including 2 Professors, 6 Associate Professor, 3 Assistant Professor,all are assistant professors and DR-level teacher.

Curriculum

DMC offers a pioneering program through its five options: News Writing and Editing, Public Relations and Advertising, Communication Studies, Radio-TV-Film, and Digital Multi-media.

These fields share a common core of theory and skills for different specific application of knowledge. The course of study integrates theory and practical training. Students are taught the necessary skills and creative ideas.

Facilities

The DMC established the “Multi-media Center” that includes radio program production and recording studio, post-production room, control room, darkroom, theater studio, and multi-media lab, and other related facilities built in this center.

Students Life

Students learn not only from lectures and tutorials but also from practical and internships. The internships offered to students include fields of Mass Media, Digital Graphic Communication, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising. DMC provides students with hands-on experience of solving problems for people with effective solutions.

Future

Our goal is to establish a mass communication graduate school. Combined with other related departments, the University will provide a complete communication education in order to meet the increasing needs for communication talents in southern Taiwan. This goal will enable us to integrate more subtly theory and practice to satisfy the needs of society in Taiwan and Asia.

Sub-control Room

  • The sub-control room is responsible for controlling all images sound and lighting in studio studios and audio images and sounds are controlled and integrated through the sub-control chamber.
    Therefore, The sub-control room is arguably the core of studio recording programs.
